The Hello Birdie Dashboard allows any user of the mobile app. to view their on-course golf performances data on the web from a desktop computer, tablet or phone. The Dashboard allows the players to get detailed breakdown analysis of their game with the graphs, in depth data and filters.
The Strokes Gained concept was initially introduced by Professor Mark Broadie from Columbia University. It’s a quantitative measurement tool that allows us to better understand the quality of any shot made during a round of golf, allowing an accurate assessment of a golfer's strengths and weaknesses. Strokes Gained compares each stroke made during a round of golf with a benchmark. We use artificial intelligence to accurately compare your current level to players of your handicap.
Once golfers analyze the strengths and weaknesses of their game with real data from their played rounds, they are in a better position to focus their next training sessions to address their shortcomings.
The value reflects your performance ‘Off the Tee'. It takes into account both the distance and the accuracy of each shot. Possible penalties due to a missed tee-shot and recovery shots played directly after a tee-shot also impact this value.
The value reflects your performance on full swing shots, therefore a longer distance than the one made by your shortest club (SW or LW for example). It takes into account the type of lie from which you played the ball, as well as where the ball landed to judge the quality of your shot. Your Strokes Gained "Approach to Green" excludes the recovery shots needed to get back into position after a bad "Tee-Shot", as this is naturally integrated into the Strokes Gained "Off the Tee".
This reflects your performance on shots that do not require a full swing, and therefore over a shorter distance than your shortest club (SW or LW for example). Are also taken into account the shots made from the bunkers around the green but not the putts made on the green itself.
This reflects your performance on all putts made on the green. Any putt made outside of the green must be marked as a Chip ([C] in the app). It will therefore have an impact on the Strokes Gained "Around the Green" and not on the Putting. For each remaining distance to the hole, the value compares the number of putts made to the one expected for a player of your level.
To access Dashboard, you only need to go to its dedicated web page, and log in with your Hello Birdie credentials.
Thanks to the tracking of your shots on your scorecard during -or at the end of- your round coupled with your GPS location while you are playing, Hello Birdie is able to analyze the different areas of your game. An easy way to identify your strengths and where to practice more. On the Dashboard, users can view their past rounds, discover extensive analytics like their Strokes Gained on each area, their distances and dispersions per club, and even more...
As you input your putting shots, we can compute your Strokes Gained by remaining putt distances. We also present a history of your putting strokes with the number of putts needed to get to the hole from each range of distances. You can also easily compare those data to players with the same handicap of yours.
The shots acquired displayed in the “predictive performance”, for instance for the putting area, are the real number of putts you played (and tracked) during the selected rounds. On the other hand, the total of shots you can count in “the trends graphs” are normalized on 18 holes per round regardless of the number of holes really played on each round. This is done so you can visually compare the different rounds at a glance. Hence, those 2 values may be slightly different depending on the holes played and the shots tracked.
If you are using another app such as 18Birdies, hole19, Arccos... and you want to get advantage of the Hello Birdie Dashboard, you would first need to download the app from the App Store and enter your previous rounds manually. This will allow you to partially get access to the statistics. Obviously, as those data are not linked to any GPS positions on the field, our algorithms won’t be able to make the best of them. To be sure to benefit from 100% of our feature set, please consider using Hello Birdie for your next round of golf! :)
Due to its screen’s size, we do not provide the visualization of your Dashboard on your apple watch. Also, the Dashboard is not yet available within the mobile app but you can already access the mobile website from here.
You can use filters to select specific rounds. For instance, your last 10 rounds, your best 10 - probably those you would like to share with your friends! - or even your worst 10 as you would probably find there, sources of inspiration for your next training sessions.
Of course! All your rounds are available on the Dashboard. Whether you played 2 or 18 holes, we analyse all data you share with us. In case of incomplete rounds, your data will be normalized on 18 holes to make the readings much easier to interpret.
Most of the features currently available within the Dashboard are accessible whatever your level of subscription at Hello Birdie (from Free to Unlimited). However, there are a couple of differences. As an exemple and as you can not prepare a game plan in the free version of the app, you won’t get in the Dashboard any representation of your planned game vs. what you actually played.
This indicator represents your instant level based on the tracked holes of the round. To compute this, we obviously take into account your performances, the Slope & SSS of your course but also the number of holes tracked. In consequence, this Simulated Index is not made to mirror WHS.
Our algorithm takes into account the impact of global elevation or altitude of the golf course on ball distances. We also take into account the elevation differences on each shot to fine-tune at its best the club selection.
Our algorithm takes into account the temperature planned for your round at the moment you created your game plan. The effects of wind are also taken into account when playing with the Live caddy. (a data connexion is then needed on the course)
Remember the algorithm calculates the plan for your objective or better. The less risky sequence for your objective and the most rewarding one will be available soon.
Simply send an email to Eldrick. He's able to send you a copy of all data we store for you.
Hello Birdie can be used for any golfer from minimum 32 handicap to scratch! Even pros who do not have a professional caddie would find it useful as a complement to prepare their round preparation.
Hello Birdie is a personalized yardage-book for golfers.
It will help you define you own strategy on any golf course in the world to help you score better!
Hello Birdie is also a FREE golf GPS and scorecard, and can also work similarly to other golf apps or GPS watch that don't have a virtual caddie feature. You may also use it as a complement to a rangefinder.
Hello Birdie does NOT need any electronic devices to track your shots. We recognize the position of your shots automatically from your shotlist.
Isn't life more beautiful on a golf course?
Hello Birdie will help you take better choices before the round and setup the best strategy to reach your goals and get closer to your maximum potential.
It will allow you to score better by helping you erase tactical mistakes, and removing any doubts - or temptations - just like you would while playing with a really smart caddie on the course.
Hello Birdie is currently including the following features :
- a golf round manager to manage your rounds
- a step-by-step game-planning tool to check the best tactics on any hole according to your golf capabilities. Our predictions are using the most powerful data intelligence algorithm ever made for golf !
- a shot-tracker to use during the round, that will allow you to track your GPS trace and golf clubs used without any electronic device. Using this feature will automatically update your performance data to help our artificial intelligence define better plans for you.
- a bag manager so you can control the clubs you will be using, and if you have a good knowledge of your performances with each club - if you have a complete Trackman datasheet for example - then you may decide to specify this data into the app for better predictions.
- a profile & settings section to manage your own data
And much more is coming...
You will enjoy golf much more if you have less reasons to complain about yourself, especially about taking the wrong decisions, right? Sounds familiar?
Golf is a game of risk & reward. The more risks you take, the higher it can pays but sometimes, and actually quite often, the higher it costs... If you want to find solutions to score better and remove those ugly double-bogeys from your scorecard, then think a little bit how easier it could be with the right strategy. Did you know that a typical 15 HCP player playing a 450m Par-5 has actually about twice as much chances to take a GIR with 3 x 7-iron than with Driver-Hybrid-Approach ??? From the overall score you are aiming for, Hello Birdie automatically determines on which hole you should play for an objective of birdie, par, or bogey, according to the probabilities you will have to reach that score on each hole of the particular course you will be playing. Of course, you can adjust any hole objective to your preferences. On each hole, Hello birdie finds out what club-sequence should ensure you the best results, which tactical choice will give you the optimal odds to score an objective, or better. The predictions calculated when creating a round can take about 15-20 seconds to compute, and we are working of reaching even faster results. Be aware that the best tactics predictions for you are computed from a very large number of simulations, more than hundreds of thousands for a single hole, with your profile. Our algorithms are based on your own capabilities, if you tracked enough rounds, or if you setup your own performance data for each clubs ; or by a prediction of you capabilities based on players similar to you if you did not track enough rounds yet. HOPE IS NOT A STRATEGY

Greenkeepers are great people, they will sometimes change the setup of their courses for some good reasons most of the times. Even if we have a great database of golf courses, sometimes it can take a while so that we have the info! You can let us know what golf course is not perfectly mapped and we will shortly make the update available. It is usually taking up to 48-72 hours. Thanks for letting us know at firstname.lastname@example.org
